Meet our Cabinet
Our cabinet consists of the moderator, assistant moderator, chairperson of each board, along with two members at large, treasurer and secretary. The monthly cabinet meeting conducts the business of the church, with each board reporting on activities and events of the past month. Keeping with our Congregational heritage, our moderator brings all of the boards and the congregation together to determine the course of the church through the monthly cabinet meetings and the church's annual membership and budget meetings.
Meet our Boards
The Board of Deacons is responsible for the spiritual care of Emerson. Each Deacon volunteers to recruit ushers, greeters, lay readers and communion and coffee hour servers for Sunday worship. Additionally, Deacons tend to the general needs of the congregation, especially through the Care Committee and by individual contact with church members outside of Sunday worship. During the year, the Deacons also host pot lucks and other fellowship opportunities.
The Board of Christian Education serves the educational and spiritual needs of our children. In addition to Sunday School, the board also holds Vacation Bible School in August, a community-wide Halloween party and joins in worship services during the year.
The Board of Christian Service helps to extend, through Emerson, Christ's love out into the greater Richfield community. In recent years, the board has adopted Taft Park in Richfield, held a bedding drive for Simpson House, organized servers for Meals on Wheels and sponsors several drives for VEAP: school supplies, food pantry items and Christmas presents for those in need in the community.
The Board of Trustees sets our annual budget and sees to the church's financial stability through a Stewardship drive every November. Trustees also see to the general upkeep and maintenance of the church. Semi-annual clean up days are organized to involve the whole church in keeping Emerson's grounds beautiful.
